Another great ascetic, pleased, gave them a bark garment, while another gave a deerskin, and yet another great sage presented them with a girdle of Munja grass.

One sage gave a water-pot (kamandalu), another a sacred thread, someone else gave a seat of darbha grass, and another sage presented a loin-cloth.

Another sage, delighted, gave them an axe, someone else a saffron robe, and another sage gave a piece of bark clothing.

One happily gave a cord for tying their matted hair, another a rope for binding firewood, a third sage gave a sacrificial vessel, and another a bundle of wood.

Another gave a seat made of Audumbara wood, someone else a rosary, and all other great sages there joyfully blessed them with long life.

All those truth-speaking sages bestowed boons upon them, declaring, 'This wonderful and sacred narrative composed by Sage Valmiki is truly marvelous!'

'This epic will be the supreme foundation for all future poets.' Thus, the two boys, highly skilled in all forms of music, sang the song in its proper sequence.

Once, Rama (the elder brother of Bharata) saw the brothers Kusha and Lava singing in the streets and highways of Ayodhya, and invited them into his palace.
శత్రుసంహారకుడైన ఆ శ్రీరామచంద్రప్రభువు తన దివ్యమైన సువర్ణ సింహాసనంపై ఆసీనుడై ఉండి, సత్కారానికి అర్హులైన ఆ కుశలవులను ఆదరపూర్వకంగా పూజించి సత్కరించారు.
Seated on his magnificent golden throne, Lord Rama, the destroyer of foes, worshipped and honored the two boys who were highly worthy of honor.

Surrounded by his ministers and brothers, the subduer of enemies (Rama), looking at the handsome and self-controlled boys, said:
అప్పుడు శ్రీరామచంద్రుడు తన సోదరులైన లక్ష్మణ, భరత, శత్రుఘ్నులతో 'సోదరులారా! దేవతాసమానమైన తేజస్సుతో వెలిగిపోతున్న ఈ బాలురు పాడే ఈ దివ్యమైన అమృత గాథను మీరంతా శ్రద్ధగా ఆలకించండి' అని చెప్పారు.
Rama spoke to Lakshmana, Shatrughna, and Bharata, saying, 'Listen to this wonderful narrative sung by these boys who possess divine luster.'

He urged the singers to recite the epic, which was rich in meaning and words. They, in turn, sang it sweetly and clearly, with rich and resonant tones.

శ్రీరాముడు సభికులతో 'సభాసదులారా! రాజలక్షణాలు కలిగి ఉండి కూడా గొప్ప తపస్వులైన ఈ కుశలవులు, నాకైనా సరే ఎంతో మేలు చేకూర్చే నా సొంత పవిత్ర చరిత్రనే గానం చేస్తున్నారు. మహిమాన్వితమైన ఈ చరిత్రను మీరంతా భక్తితో ఆలకించండి' అని చెప్పారు.
'These two ascetics, Lava and Kusha, possess royal characteristics and are great ascetics. They recite this glorious story which brings prosperity even to me. Listen to this noble narrative!'

Prompted by Rama's words, they sang in the classical marga style. Lord Rama, seated in the assembly, gradually became completely absorbed, his mind drawn entirely to the song.
